📌 Receipt Management Hack for Solo Biz Owners (No Fancy Apps Needed)
Tired of paper receipts cluttering your bag or glovebox? Here's a simple, sustainable system you can start TODAY using just your smartphone and email.
Step 1: Snap a photo of the receipt.
As soon as you get it—at checkout, the car, wherever. Make it a habit.
Step 2: Email it to yourself.
Yep, that’s it. But here’s how to level it up ⬇
👉 If you own a domain:
• Create an alias email like [email protected]
• In your email inbox, create a subfolder for each year (2024, 2023, etc.)
• Drag the receipt email into the correct year’s folder
• Right-click the folder and set the archive rule to Never (so nothing disappears)
👉 If you use Gmail:
• You can also create an alias by adding +keywords to your address (ex: yourname+[email protected])
• Set up a filter to move those emails into a label called “Receipts” automatically
• Use Google Drive to save and organize by year: Receipts > 2024 > [Month] (you can invite your bookkeeper &/or CPA to this folder! :)
