Marketplace Open Enrollment
Marketplace insurance has an annual Open Enrollment Period.
The standard federal Marketplace schedule is:
-November 1: Open Enrollment begins
-December 15: Deadline to enroll for coverage beginning January 1
-January 15: Open Enrollment ends
-February 1: Coverage generally begins for people who enroll from December 16 through January 15
After January 15, you generally need to qualify for a Special Enrollment Period to enroll in or change a Marketplace plan. Qualifying life events may include losing employer-sponsored health coverage, getting married, having or adopting a baby, moving to a new coverage area, and experiencing certain changes in household circumstances.
