💰 Paying More for Medicare Than You Should? IRMAA Could Be the Reason.
Many Medicare beneficiaries in Poplar Bluff, Dexter, Doniphan, Piedmont, Van Buren, Sikeston, and throughout Southeast Missouri are surprised to learn they're paying higher Medicare Part B and Part D premiums because of something called IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount).
What many people don't realize is that Medicare uses your tax return from two years ago to determine whether you owe these additional charges. For 2026, Medicare is looking at your 2024 income. (Social Security)
If you've recently:
✔ Retired
✔ Lost a spouse
✔ Divorced
✔ Experienced a significant reduction in income
✔ Reduced your work hours
You may qualify to have your IRMAA reduced or removed by filing Form SSA-44 with Social Security. (Social Security)
We've helped many Medicare beneficiaries throughout Poplar Bluff and Southeast Missouri understand their options and determine whether they're paying more than necessary.
Don't assume Medicare got it right. A quick review could potentially save you hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars each year. (Social Security)
