October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. We've spent a lot of time on how to spot a scam, so today: what to do if one gets through. It happens to careful, smart people every day, and speed matters more than anything.

Your first-hour playbook:

1. Stop all contact. Hang up, stop replying, and don't send anything else, no matter how urgent they make it sound.

2. Call your branch right away, using the number on our website or the back of your card. We'll help secure your accounts and cards and walk you through next steps.

3. Change your passwords, starting with online banking and your email. If you've reused that password anywhere else, change it there, too.

4. Report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. If your identity was used, IdentityTheft.gov will build you a recovery plan. Consider a free credit freeze with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Please don't wait because you feel embarrassed. Scammers count on that. The sooner we know, the more we can do.
