UnitedHealthCare Medicare Advantage Update

Saint Joseph Health System will be out-of-network in Indiana as of July, 1st 2024.

Despite months of hard work our best efforts to reach a compromise, UnitedHealthcare was unable to reach a contract agreement with Saint Joseph Health System in Indiana. As a result, Saint Joseph Health’s hospitals, facilities and its physicians are now out-of-network for members enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage (MA) plan and Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNP) effective July 1, 2024. Impacted members have received letters.
While we remain open to discussions with Saint Joseph, our primary focus at this time is ensuring the members we serve have uninterrupted access to the care they need through continuity of care or supporting them as they transition to new providers.
Continuity of care
Some UnitedHealthcare MA and D-SNP members in the middle of treatment at Saint Joseph may be eligible to continue receiving covered services for a specified period of time after Saint Joseph leaves our network. To determine eligibility, members can call the customer service number on their UnitedHealthcare UCard®.
Member options
UnitedHealthcare MA and D-SNP members will have access to other in network providers including, but not limited to:
• Beacon Granger Hospital
• Unity Medical/Surgical Hospital
• Memorial Hospital of South Bend
• Elkhart General Hospital
• South Bend Clinic
We are here to support you through this. Encourage members who have questions about in-network health care providers to call the customer service number on their UCard or use the provider directory on myuhcmedicare.com. Find a Doctor to confirm a provider’s status and view a list of accepted plans.
