Good morning!
I want to say thank you to all of you who are taking the time to wish me a happy birthday! It is early morning here in California and as I sit here in my early morning over-caffeinated state, here are some thoughts that are swirling around in my head and I offer them to you as a thank you... My birhday is on more people's calendars than I realized!
It is crazy or (or maybe just just fun... caffeine, remember) to think back to almost any "single thing" and how that seemingly small thing has played a part in the way the world has unfolded and "is" today.
I have jokingly blamed Monica Lewinsky for causing Al Gore to lose the election. Of course it wasn't "her fault" but that thing that happened and was released to the press changed the world. On a more personal level, I just thought of a day when my date couldn't attend a wedding reception that I invited her to, so I met another woman there, and now I have 9 grandchildren (with one in the oven) right now. Can I say that none of them would even have existed if my date had shown up? Crazy to contemplate... caffeine, remember...
Anyway, what I want to say is I have made it 66 years on this earth so far, and I am soooo, lucky to have had this opportunity to participate, to watch, to see how entropy is creating what is, and what is to become. My hope is all of you, along with me, will try not to dwell on what "didn't happen", or what you "didn't do", or even what you "did do" that you wish you didn't. Just be thankful that you are here today and you are lucky enough to share this day with the rest of us, who are busy creating tomorrow in every tiny step we take. Enjoy it and thanks again for wishing me a Happy Birthday!
