Cass County Sheriff's Office - NE will begin accepting ATV and UTV registrations on August 1st under the county's new ordinance. Registration costs $100 per vehicle and can be completed online or in person with the required documentation.

Three important items to remember when the heatwave moves in:

1) Keep shades and curtains shut on windows the sun hits directly.

2) Clean your AC coils with a garden hose, it needs to breathe!

3) Change out your air filter to ensure maximum air flow!

⛈️ OVERNIGHT SEVERE THREAT (3 AM - 6 AM):
Wind-blown, tennis ball-sized hail (up to 2.5") is capable of producing destructive damage to vehicles and roofs overnight. The highest risk sits across east-central and southeast Nebraska, specifically impacting areas south of Columbus, north of Lincoln, and near Omaha.

⚠️ MORE THAN JUST HAIL: While very large hail is the main threat, these overnight storms are also capable of producing damaging winds, flash flooding, and a tornado or two.

🚨 WHAT TO DO: Since these storms are moving through while most people are asleep, please ensure your NOAA Weather Radio is on and your smartphone alerts are turned UP so you can be awakened if a warning is issued for your area.

Just a friendly heads up to anyone who may use this route.

Plan ahead! Beginning Monday, April 6, work will begin on sections of N-50 from reference post 70 to reference post 77. Traffic impacts include various lane closures along N-50. Traffic will be maintained with a single lane of traffic on the bridge over the BNSF tracks, controlled by a temporary signal. An 11-foot width restriction and a lowered speed limit will be in effect until winter 2026.
