The future of healthcare is coming to Scotlandville — and Citizens Bank & Trust is proud to be part of it.

This week, we were honored to attend the announcement of Baton Rouge General – Scotlandville, a major new healthcare investment coming to the heart of the community.

Baton Rouge General will invest more than $500,000 to transform a portion of the Jewel J. Newman Community Center into a new health clinic serving patients of all ages across Scotlandville and North Baton Rouge.

The facility will bring family medicine, pediatrics, mental and behavioral health services, and more closer to home for the families who call this community home.

As a proud community partner, Citizens Bank & Trust is excited to support a project that represents what meaningful community investment looks like — bringing essential resources, opportunity and quality care directly into the neighborhoods we serve.

Redevelopment is underway, with a targeted opening in late October 2026.

We’re proud to stand alongside Baton Rouge General and our fellow community partners as Scotlandville continues to move forward.

We’ve been talking a lot about teaching your kids to save their money, how to save it, where to save it and watching it grow. But have you explained to your kids that not only does their bank balance grow when they put money into their account, it also grows with interest?

A simple way to teach kids: once you have deposited their money into a savings account, show them how the bank pays them interest on their money just for being in the bank. That way, they’ll learn that over time the money they put into the account plus what interest they’ve earned from the bank, provides them with more money.

The earlier kids learn how money works, the more confident they can become managing it as adults.

Fraud Friday: Protect Yourself from Check Fraud

Believe it or not, check fraud is still a risk, but a few simple habits can help protect your money and your account.

✅ Keep checks secure. Store your checkbook and unused checks in a safe place, and report lost or stolen checks right away.
✅ Protect your account information. Never share your account or routing numbers with someone you don’t know. Even deposit slips can contain information you don’t want falling into the wrong hands.
✅ Write checks carefully. Use an ink pen, fill in the payee and amount completely, and eliminate unused space that could be altered.
✅ Shred sensitive documents. Don’t toss old statements, canceled checks or deposit slips in the trash—shred them instead.
✅ Monitor your account. Regularly review your statements and use online or mobile banking to spot unfamiliar transactions quickly.
✅ Turn on fraud alerts. Alerts can help you catch suspicious activity sooner.

The best defense against fraud is awareness. Take a few minutes today to review your account security habits—you could save yourself a lot of trouble later.
