Flooding can happen just about everywhere it rains or snows, which means most clients would benefit from having flood insurance as part of their personal insurance program — especially those who live by the water or in neighborhoods with heavy construction, concrete, or varying land undulation.
But did you know flooding is now our nation's #1 most common natural disaster? Note these three “historical” flood events took place in areas we often don’t associate with high flood risk within the last three months:

• Parts of the Hudson Valley received 10” of rain in one day in July, which was considered to be a “1000-year" event. For context, that’s roughly the same amount of rain the region typically receives over the course of three months.

• Over 11" of rain was recorded in parts of Kentucky, shattering the old record (10.28") by almost an inch.

• Hurricane Hilary dropped over 11” of rain in some areas of the Southwest, nearly equaling the total amount of rainfall these areas customarily see in an entire year.
