PLEASE READ: A ride on the Liberty Train to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country is the pinnacle event to all of our planning and fundraising efforts in 2025 and 2026. We anticipate selling out of tickets for this event, so get tickets soon!
The ride will take place on Saturday September 26th, 2026, going from Plainfield to Groton and back. There will be 2 departure times, 9 am or 2:30 pm. The train will leave from the Plainfield Depot on Railroad Ave, near the Plainfield Post Office. Parking is available nearby. Three of the train cars will feature premium seating at $50.00 per ticket; 3 of the train cars will be general admission at $30.00 per ticket. Please note that the train is not handicap accessible. Tickets are sold in numerical order for seat; if you want to sit with friends, you must buy all tickets at the same time. Ticket purchases are non-refundable; cash or check only. Tickets will go on sale beginning Thursday May 14th, from 2pm to 6 pm at the Plainfield Town Hall, and each subsequent Thursday from 2-6 pm at the Plainfield Town Hall until the event is sold out. Use of this ticket indicates acceptance by the passenger for himself/herself or his/her successors, heirs, executors, administrators, agents, contractors, or other persons claiming through it, to release, hold harmless, forever quitclaim and discharge Providence and Worcester Railroad Company, including without limitation, ALL of its shareholders, railroads, companies , parents, affiliates and subsidiaries in their entirety (collectively and individually referred to as “Railroad”), the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (“DAR”), the State of Connecticut (the “State”), and the City of Plainfield, Connecticut (the “City”), their respective successors and assigns, and their respective agents, shareholders, officers, directors and employees, from and against any and all claims, suits or demands which passenger or his/her successors, heirs, executors, administrators, agents, contractors or other persons claiming through it, have, can or might have as a result of any loss, damage, expense, personal injury or death, including but not limited to exposure to or injury resulting from exposure to communicable disease, viruses, bacteria or illnesses caused by any reason whatsoever by Railroad, DAR, the State, and or the City, their respective shareholders, officers, directors, agents, or employees, or otherwise caused, and which passenger or his/her successors, heirs, executors, administrators, agents, contractors or other persons claiming through it, have, can or might have as a result of any loss, damage, expense suffered or sustained while upon the tracks, trains, facilities, property or premises of Railroad, DAR, the State and the City for the purpose of riding a passenger train operated on behalf of DAR across the rails of Railroad. Use of this ticket by an adult accompanying a minor indicates express representation that he/she is the parent or legal guardian of such minor or that he/she has obtained permission from the parent or legal guardian of the minor to agree to the above‑referenced waiver on behalf of the minor(s) that he/she is accompanying. Use of this ticket indicates acceptance by the passenger for himself/herself or his/her successors heirs executors ,administrators, agents, contractors or other persons claiming through it, of the dangers associated with being on Railroad’s property or tracks and aboard the excursion passenger train(s); passengers and property are in constant danger of possible injury, death or destruction incident to the freight operations or other operations of Railroad, whether by Railroad or others.
