EDC Farm Bureau

EDC Farm Bureau The Farm Bureau is a local membership, non-profit organization that is dedicated to protecting your interests and the interests of agriculture.

This grassroots organization truly works from the bottom up. The County Board decides issues at the local level and gives input to state policy changes. With the many challenges facing our rural county, the Farm Bureau provides the resources to help represent agriculture's priorities at local, state, and national levels. Our county benefits from this organization's hard work.

The El Dorado Water Agency is now enrolling growers for the 2026 Irrigation Management Services (IMS) Program — a valuable opportunity for agricultural producers looking to improve irrigation efficiency, crop health, and water management.

For more than 25 years, the program has helped local growers make the most of limited water supplies through affordable soil moisture monitoring and weekly irrigation guidance. In partnership with Sierra Foothill Water Management, participating growers receive weekly soil moisture reports and suggested irrigation targets designed to support crop performance while reducing operational costs.

Eligible growers in El Dorado County may receive:

Weekly in-field soil moisture monitoring reports
Irrigation efficiency recommendations
Improved crop health and nutrient uptake support
Optional low-cost emitter uniformity testing (limited availability)

The Agency covers 75% of monitoring costs, with participating growers contributing $125 per monitoring site for the 2026 season.

Eligibility includes growers with at least 1 acre under cultivation on parcels totaling 5 or more acres. Space is limited and applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 108th El Dorado County Farm Bureau Annual Dinner and helped make this year’s event such a success.

Our theme, “Working Lands, Working People,” recognized not only the farmers, ranchers, and foresters who steward our lands, but also the many people working behind the scenes—in meetings, hearings, and legislative discussions—to advocate on behalf of agriculture and rural communities. Farm Bureau is in the room when you cannot be, representing your voice and your interests.

We were especially grateful for the participation of senior government, water agency, and community leaders whose presence demonstrated the collaboration necessary to protect our working lands, watershed, economy, and future.

Thank you to our members, partners, sponsors, and guests for being part of the conversation and supporting the future of agriculture in El Dorado County.

Earlier this week, over 900 third graders joined the annual Farm Day event! It was an incredible day of hands-on learning where students explored the vital role agriculture plays in our communities and everyday lives.

From nutrition and livestock to our watersheds and forests, these students came ready to learn and engage. The El Dorado Farm Bureau was proud to lead a hands-on Pizza Garden station to help students connect the ingredients they love to where their food actually begins. 🍕🌱
