So why does it feel like you're still figuring it out? Let me guess:
โ†’ Paycheck hits, bills get paid, whatever's left just disappears
โ†’ Maxing your 403(b) because that's what everyone said to do
โ†’ Student loans hanging over you with no clear end date
โ†’ You keep saying "we should be further along by now"
โ†’ Every financial decision feels like a guess

You didn't spend years in school and clinicals

to stress about money on top of 12-hour shifts. But here's the problem:
Traditional financial advice doesn't work for PAs and NPs. "Just budget and max your 401k" doesn't help when your benefits packet is 90 pages of jargon, your student loans have a dozen repayment options, and you're too exhausted to sort through any of it. You don't need generic advice for "high earners." You need someone who gets your world. I'm married to Katie, an NP in trauma. I built MedPro Financials because I saw how hard clinicians workโ€”and how little support they get with money. Here's what changes when we work together:
โ†’ You know where your money goes before you spend it
โ†’ Your student loans have a strategy, not just a payment
โ†’ Your income is protected if something happens
โ†’ Saving 15-20% happens automatically
โ†’ You stop guessing and start building

Physicians - come join us over at SERMO tonight.

1. Review what your wealth building potential is.

2. Looking at a high-level protection overview.

3. Looking at the different types and purposes

of life insurance.

4. Talk about long-term care planning.

5. Arguably most important in my opinion: the right type of long-term disability insurance every physician should own.

Tonight is part 3 of our financial literacy series for the Sermo physician community.

We do these regularly because most physicians were never actually taught how to manage the income they worked so hard to earn.

So far we've covered investment planning cash flow and retirement but tonight we're closing the loop on the piece most doctors get wrong:

which is protecting your income your single most important asset.

PAs and NPs โ€” nobody wants to say this out loud so I will:

Your employer benefits were not designed for you.

They were designed for the average employee.

You are not the average employee.

A $1,000/month disability cap.
Life insurance at 1x salary.
A 403(b) with no guidance on how to actually use it. Student loan payments on autopilot for a decade.

This isn't bad luck. This is the default.

And the default is expensive.

You spent 6-8 years training to save lives.

Nobody spent 6 minutes teaching you how to keep the money you earn.

PAs and NPs are some of the highest earners in healthcare โ€” and some of the most financially behind.

That's not a discipline problem. That's a system problem.

So I'll ask you directly ๐Ÿ‘‡

What financial move do you wish you'd made sooner?

1๏ธโƒฃ Started investing earlier
2๏ธโƒฃ Understood my benefits
3๏ธโƒฃ Tackled loans differently
4๏ธโƒฃ Hired a financial advisor

Drop your number in the comments. I read every single one.

Here's what I shared with a group of APPs at Highland Hospital today:

1) The importance of getting financially organized
2) Controlling what we can control which is protection and cash flow
3) Updates to the student loan landscape.

Couldn't make it to AAPA this year... twins have me on a short leash. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But if you're walking those floors this week, pay attention to the conversations happening outside the sessions.

PAs at conferences like this are usually at a pivot point โ€” new job, new contract, first real income. And almost none of them have a plan for what to do with it.

If that's you, I see you. DM me.

"When's the right time to start planning financially?"

The answer: now.

Not after you land the first job.
Not after you pay off some of the loans.
Not when you "have more saved up."

Often when I meet PAs they are a few years into their career and might have missed years of compound growth, made expensive protection mistakes, and built habits that cost them clarity.

New York State Society of PAs is having us back for a free webinar March 18th at 7 PM on exactly this.

Their commitment to financial literacy and providing resources to PAs is unmatched - a really special group!

If you're a PA student or early in your career, this is worth your time.
