Sometimes we believe that if we can't do things at a certain level then we shouldn't do it at all. Life hack-this is rarely true, especially when it comes to saving money. Starting small is always the way to go for 3 reasons,
1. Whatever you save will be helpful in an emergency
2. You get dopamine from achieving a goal
3. You can always increase the amount whenever you are comfortable doing so.

The best way to protect yourself from identity theft is to freeze your credit. Here is how.
1. Go to each credit bureau's website (Experian, Equifax & TransUnion)
2. Create an account. Be sure to use the free version.
3. Once you do that, find the button that says "freeze your credit" and click it.
4. Now, no one can open an account in your name (yes, even you).
5. if you need to access your credit, go back into your account and schedule a temporary unfreeze. Its as easy as that!

One way to think about your budget is using the 50/30/20 method. 50% of your net income goes towards your basic needs like housing, food, and electricity. 30% is for your wants. We cannot thrive if we are not feeling fulfilled in life so treat yourself...but only 30% of the time. The last 20% goes towards your financial goals like paying down debt or saving. See? Finances can be fun!!

If you're 18+, you can get free financial counseling with the Financial Empowerment Center. We have translation services, counseling sessions are virtual in case mobility is an issue, and various locations throughout Allegheny County where you can see a counselor in person.
