Many of you know that Stone Pier Capital supports the revitalization of Aliquippa, PA, a once hugely successful town in heavily industrialized Beaver County near Pittsburgh on the Ohio River. Aliquippa once had one steel plant that provided high paying, quality jobs for 11,000 workers! As steel production moved overseas in the early 1980s, the mill is gone, but Aliquippa still stands, a bit battered and even devastated over the years, but strong and resilient in spirit, and clearly coming back.
Stone Pier believes that despite the amazing transformation of Beaver County by the nation's largest construction project, the building of the nearby Shell Pennsylvania Chemicals / Shell Polymers Petrochemical Complex, Beaver County cannot be "back" until "Aliquippa is back." Therefore, Stone Pier supports Aliquippa businesses on it main street, Franklin Avenue (helping to revive one of the most devastated parts of Aliquippa) by an annual corporate membership at the now famed Puro Cigar Lounge, and having events there sponsored by Stone Pier Managing Director Dale Killmeyer. A foundation that Stone Pier Managing Director Charlie Schliebs has the honor to chair, the Huddle Up for Kids Foundation, led by longtime NFL guard and Alliant Insurance Services Vice President Todd Kalis, has supported Aliquippa High School and other needy causes in Beaver County through its annual Shell / Pro Football Alumni Community Awards Gala, and Stone Pier and Huddle Up supports the creation of quality educational and career opportunities for all Aliquippa and Beaver County residents and students through a variety of initiatives. Aliquippa and its small but incredibly mighty high school are known for turning out amazing people who triumph and persevere. Thanks to Head Coach Mike Warfield and Mayor Dwan B Walker.
One big inspirational part of that is Aliquippa Senior High School. While tiny compared to most high schools in PA, Aliquippa turns out an amazing number of D1 college athletes, and NFL stars. The school teaches people how to be responsible adults. This year, despite being in the smallest size category of schools, Aliquippa won the state championship in Class 4A. The Quip Nation football banquet for the 77 members of the team, cheerleading squad and band needs sponsors, as indicated below.
Stone Pier is proud to sponsor six, and Huddle Up for Kids Foundation is proud to sponsor another six, for a total of 12. They need 77. Jump on this one to show support for Aliquippa. One sponsorship only cost $40. Thanks for listening.
