A Truck and a Dream
In January 2015, Greg Warhold and I were sitting down having lunch. We were concerned about our current employment situation, as the future did not look bright for the company that we had been working for together for the last five years. I looked over at Greg and asked him, if things went south, what did he plan to do. He responded, I guess I’ll call up the Union Hall and go back to work as a Union Laborer. He asked me the same and I said, I don’t know but I am tired of starting over. I was looking at the truck paper online at the time and saw a garbage truck for sale for a reasonable price. I had background in the waste industry and right then and there had a crazy idea. Hey Greg if I can get this garbage truck, would you do this business with me. He responds, What the hell are we going to do with a garbage truck! I have done nothing but work in construction for 28 years. I laughed and said, What do you think? Were going to pick up garbage with it. I asked him again, Will you do this business with me? He looks at me very seriously and said, What are we going to do? I looked him dead in the eyes and told him I’ll show you!
We ended up purchasing that first truck for $9500 as it was all the money the we could scrape together. We bought it site unseen in Missouri and had it shipped in to us. When it arrived it looked like it came of the bottom of the ocean. However with three months of hard work Greg and I rebuilt that truck with pieces of scrap metal and used parts and put it back in route ready condition. We used to work our day job from 7 to 4, then ride around in the evenings soliciting business and picking up our jobs and the rest is history after that. The one thing that I knew is that no matter what the obstacle, no matter what the challenge, Greg and I could overcome it. It was what we had always done for others, now we were doing it for ourselves.
Over the past 4 years as our business has grown, the one principal that our business has been built on is Integrity. Doing the right thing all the time for our customers and our employees is the cornerstone of our success. We feel that happy workers produce excellent work. Excellent work is well received by our customers, and our business will continue to grow as long as we never deviate from this course. To all of of our customers and employees who have been part of our story, Greg and I are truly grateful. We have been blessed with opportunity to meet so many good and hard working people. We thank you for opportunities that you have given us and look forward to continue this story for many years to come
Sincerely
Josh Stello/Greg Warhold
