Some accounts—especially older ones in good standing—actually help your credit score, even if they’re closed. Deleting them could wipe out your credit age and drop your score unexpectedly.

🧠 Credit Tip:
Before disputing or deleting anything, check if the account has:
• Positive payment history
• No late payments
• A long credit age

If it does, leave it alone—it’s helping you!

(So you don’t end up with a denied app and a hard inquiry 👀)

1️⃣ Know Your Credit Score
Before you apply, check all 3 bureaus (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion).
One lender might love you, another might not even look your way.

2️⃣ Understand Your Credit Utilization
If your credit cards are maxed out, pause.
Pay them down to under 25% (or in full).
High utilization = low approval odds.

3️⃣ Know the Lender’s Requirements
Every credit card or loan isn’t for everybody.
Research the minimum score, income requirements, and whether they pull from TransUnion, Equifax, or Experian.
📲 Tip: Some cards are soft pull pre-approvals — try those first.

🎯 Bonus Tip: Don’t apply to multiple lenders back-to-back. That’ll stack hard inquiries and drop your score FAST. 💳
