Our office will be closed tomorrow, Friday, June 19th. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021, and the stock market is closed including the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, as well as the US bond markets.

Over the last few days, we covered protecing yourself from Investment Fraud, Tech Support Fraud, Romance Scams and Grandparent Scams.

What if you become a victim of one of these types or any other type of scam?

🚨 REPORT-REPORT-REPORT-REPORT 🚨

🗣️ Report ALL internet-based crimes to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3.gov)

➡️ Include victim personal identifying information and contact information.

➡️ Include financial transaction information including:

🚨 Bank Account Number
🚨 Transaction date and amount
🚨 Recipient account information
🚨 SWIFT Code

➡️ Imperative potential fraud losses need to be reported to IC3..gov within 0-72 hours for most optimal chance to recover funds.

🚨 Report ALL MAIL BASED crimes to the United States Postal Inspection Service at uspis.gov.

🚨 Report ALL IN-PERSON crimes to your LOCAL POLICE department.

Protect Yourself- Grandparent Scams

🚫 Resist the presssure to act quickly.

📞 Try to contact your grandchild or another family member to determine whether the call is legitimate.

💲 Never wire money based on a request made over the phone or in an e-mail...especially overseas. Wiring money is like giving cash--once you send it, you can't get it back.

🔑 Create a family code word.

Protect Yourself- Romance Scams 💔

🔍 Research the person's photo and profile using online searches to see if the image, name, or details have been used elsewhere.

🛑 Go slowly and ask lots of questions.

😞 Beware if the individual quickly moves communications to messaging apps and never meets in person.

🚫 Beware if the individual attempts to isolate you from friends and family or requests inappropriate photos or financial information that could later be used to extort you.

💵 NEVER send or accept money to anyone you have only communicated with online or by phone.

Protect Yourself- Tech Support Fraud

🔗 DO NOT click on unsolicited pop-ups, links sent via text messages, or email links or attachments.

📞 DO NOT contact the telephone number provided in a pop-up, text, or email.

🛜 DO NOT download software at the request of an unknown individual who contacted you.

💻 DO NOT allow an unknown individual who contacted you to have control of your computer.

💸 The US Government will NEVER request you send money via wire transfer to foreign accounts, cryptocurrency, or gift/prepaid cards.

🏠 NEVER disclose your home address or agree to meet with unknown individuals to deliver cash or precious metals.

This morning at our monthly breakfast workshop, we had speakers from the Philadelphia Field Office of the FBI. They gave our clients some great information. Over the next few days, we want to share some of this important information.

Protect Yourself- INVESTMENT FRAUD

📨 If an unknown individual contacts you, DO NOT release any financial or personal identifying information (PII) and DO NOT send any money.

💲 DO NOT invest per the advice of someone you meet soley online.

✔️ Confirm the validity of any investment opportunity or cryptocurrency investment website or app.

💰 If you already invested funds and believe you are a victim of a scheme, DO NOT pay any additional fees or taxes to withdraw your money.

🚫 DO NOT pay for services that claim to be able to recover lost funds.
