The word "bundle" in insurance has been a buzz word for a long time.

While this can be true in certain instances, I have found that the vast majority of the time, it makes sense to have auto and home with different companies altogether.

Very rarely in the current market is one company the most competitive company for BOTH auto and home together. They are generally better on one and weaker on the other.

One important coverage on car insurance that people rarely talk about...

Medical payments coverage!

This reimburses every person in the vehicle for their medical bills if they have medical expenses due to an accident, regardless of whose fault the accident is.

And it's generally a very inexpensive coverage to add.

Out of an abundance of caution for our employees, both Pineville and Glenmora offices will be closed tomorrow. Should you need to file a claim or have other questions regarding your insurance, you will still be able to reach us during our office hours of 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM by phone.
We are planning to open back up for normal hours on Wednesday, but will review road conditions tomorrow evening to make a final decision.

Tuesday may make history for our area!

A couple of inches of snow = fun with the kids.

Burst pipes = not fun for anybody and costly repairs.

Homeowners insurance is written on 1 of these three policy forms: basic, broad, and special.

Broad and special form includes coverage resulting from burst pipes and weight of ice, snow, and sleet.

Basic form typically does not cover damage for these and just covers perils such as wind, hail, lightning, and fire.

Make sure ahead of Tuesday that you know what type of policy you have, and make changes if necessary.

I never thought I'd make a map like this. This is my first shot at amounts. These will likely shift around, but this is my initial idea on how much snow will fall. I'll have a full update with parish by parish forecast amounts later this afternoon.

We just got an annual statement for one of my life insurance policies in the mail today. I talked to my wife about it and I put it in our safe.

Real question: if something happened to you today, does your spouse know EXACTLY where to find your life insurance information?

What company it's with? What the amount is? How to locate the policy number?

Take this holiday weekend to compile this info and have a conversation with your loved ones.

I'm not worried about this one as it relates to making Louisiana landfall.

But this definitely makes me concerned for future storms in this season.

As so many others are saying right now, I'll repeat it.

Check your hurricane deductible and make sure it's something that you can live with.

This is a picture from our latest outing to Chick-fil-A.

The 4 sandwiches that are in the picture?

All free.

We get this almost every time we go.

We've got two of those school cards that gives us 2 free sandwiches.

We always fill out the online survey for a free sandwich.

We pay separately so we can get two receipts for surveys.

Why do we do this?

Because Chick-fil-A allows it!

There's no under the table business going on...we're just taking advantage of what the restaurant offers.

This can apply to any industry or company, but my thought goes to young people and life insurance.

Companies offer insanely low rates for a ton of coverage when you're young.

This past week, we put a $1.5 million policy in place for a 33 year old guy, $53 a month.

Rate is locked in for 20 years.

Take advantage of what life insurance companies offer when you're young.

And maybe cut back on the fried chicken sandwiches.
