Although you are not required to take the distribution this year, our general opinion would be to do it. The rational behind this is that with all of the stimulus packages rolling out of Washington, taxes will have to go up in order to fund them thus the tax on distributions will rise as well. If possible, wait until later in the year to allow the market to recoup some of the losses from the first quarter.
