Fun Fact Friday!

The Apollo 11:

There are certain occupations and hobbies that can incur high-risk ratings or even prevent you from being eligible for life insurance coverage altogether. So what if your job is an astronaut and your mission is to go to the moon?

Astronauts of the Apollo 11 were faced with this dilemma. So the crew of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins, came up with a creative backup plan for their families.

They signed hundreds of commemorative envelopes and postal covers before launch. These became known as “insurance covers.” The idea was that if they died on the mission, the signed covers would likely become historically valuable. Their wives and children could then sell them to collectors for money.

Throwback Thursday-

The “Discount Double Check” campaign was created by State Farm in 2010. The idea was built around a relatable concept: people want to make sure they’re not overpaying, so agents would “double check” customers’ policies for overlooked discounts.

The campaign became huge largely because of Aaron Rodgers and the original “State Farm Agent” commercials. Rodgers first appeared in the ads in 2011, helping turn the phrase into a pop-culture catchphrase. Later, athletes like Patrick Mahomes, Chris Paul, and others joined the campaign.

One of the biggest moments came from the famous “Rodgers Rate” commercials, where people jokingly believed they could get special insurance pricing just by knowing Rodgers personally. That evolved into the introduction of “Jake from State Farm,” which became one of the most recognizable insurance mascots in advertising.

* What if a tree falls from your yard onto your neighbor’s house?

(It’s not always your policy that pays—depends on negligence.)

What If the tree falls due to wind, lightning, or a storm?

* Your neighbor’s own homeowners insurance typically pays for the damage
* You are NOT liable just because the tree was on your property
* Their policy may also cover debris removal

Why?
Insurance views this as unavoidable—no negligence involved.

False: When you let someone borrow your car, your insurance acts as the primary coverage. If they crash, you will likely need to file a claim with your insurer. You could also be liable for damages exceeding your policy limits. Insurance follows the car, not the driver.
