While on vacation this year, we stopped at one of our favorite restaurants.
What makes it unique isn’t the food—it’s the walls.
Every person who visits is invited to write a message on a dollar bill and staple it somewhere in the restaurant. Over the years, hundreds of thousands of dollars have covered the walls and hung from the ceiling. At first glance, it seems crazy. Why would anyone “waste” money like that?
Then it hit me.
The point was never the money.
It was the message…..the meaning
Two years ago, after losing my dad, I wrote his name on a dollar bill and stapled it to the wall. Alongside his name, I wrote the titles that meant so much to me: Dad. Father. Pawpaw. Hero.
This year, I found myself reading the messages left behind by others. Some were funny. Some were heartfelt. Some were reminders of people deeply loved and greatly missed.
Every bill told a story. Every message revealed what mattered most.
And that’s exactly what we strive to uncover in my office.
It’s about discovering the message you want your life to tell. It’s about identifying what matters most, aligning your resources with your values, and intentionally building the financial legacy you want to leave behind.
It was a great reminder staring at all that money and watching the people around the restaurant.
Nobody was celebrating the dollar.
They were celebrating what mattered enough to write on it.
The money simply gave them a place to leave their message.
You may never write your message on a dollar bill and staple it to a wall in my office.
But we believe your message should be thought out, written out, and then most importantly…..lived out.
What’s your message? What’s your meaning? Is that being accomplished for you currently?
