Heads up: Spring means more animals along and on the road. Animals become more active in the spring, especially at dawn and dusk. This makes it extra important to slow down and stay alert in areas where animals commonly cross. Additionally, make sure you leave extra room for drivers who are braking hard or swerving to avoid an animal.

Steering clear of animals is one key part of staying safe on the road. It’s also crucial to have coverage that protects you in the event of an accident. If you have questions about your auto insurance or want to schedule a quick coverage review this spring, give us a call. We’re here to help you.

Think your auto and homeowners insurance will protect you if something goes wrong? Think again.

Today’s lawsuits are bigger, more frequent, and far more expensive than most standard policies were designed to handle. When a serious claim exceeds your coverage limits, the financial fallout can be devastating.

Here’s why more people are adding personal umbrella insurance:

✅ Liability claims and payouts have surged over the last decade
✅ Umbrella claims have doubled, with average payouts up about 67%
✅ Jury awards in some states have exceeded standard policy limits by hundreds of thousands of dollars
✅ Legal defense costs alone can surpass $50,000 before a case is resolved
✅ $1 million in umbrella coverage may cost as little as $12–$25 per month

The cost of not having enough liability protection can far outweigh the cost of adding it. Personal umbrella insurance helps protect your savings, home equity, investments, and even future income — before one claim puts them at risk. If you would like to learn more about umbrella insurance, give our team a call. We're here to help.

President’s Day is known for its eye-catching auto deals. That’s why we wanted to reach out with a reminder if you’re planning on buying a new car this February: Be sure you have a plan in place for your car insurance coverage.

Many insurers automatically extend your current coverage to a newly purchased car for a limited time — typically seven to 30 days. However, before your grace period ends, you’ll need to be sure your new car is fully added to your auto policy and that your coverage is keeping up with your new vehicle.

Additionally, if you’re getting rid of an older car as you purchase a new one, you’ll want to make sure the older vehicle is removed from your policy.

We can help you make sure your auto policy is set up for your current situation. Give us a call today, and we can make sure you and your new ride are fully covered.

Are you planning on making a big purchase for a special someone this Valentine’s Day? If so, you might not realize that high-value items will need a separate insurance policy.

If you’re buying jewelry, fine art, or collectibles this Valentine’s Day, make sure you have:

✅ An appraisal to determine the value of your purchase, which should be updated regularly.
✅ Well-documented receipts, serial numbers, and appraisal results.
✅ Separate coverage to ensure full protection beyond your standard homeowners policy.

Leaving valuables underinsured could mean that you don’t receive the full value of the item if something were to happen to it.

Give us a call, and we can help you get a separate policy set up for any big purchases you plan to make this Valentine’s Day. Let’s make sure your valuables are properly protected.

🔥🌧️🏠 Property damage can happen unexpectedly. And while you can’t always prevent such incidents, you can prevent further headaches by approaching the claim process appropriately.

With that in mind, here are some general post-property damage guidelines to file away:

1️⃣ Ensure safety, evacuate the premises if needed, and contact authorities for emergencies.

2️⃣ Notify your agent ASAP, and document all conversations with the carrier.

3️⃣ Take photos/videos of damage, and make a list of lost items and their estimated value.

4️⃣ Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, like placing tarps over leaks or shutting off utilities. Keep receipts/invoices for temporary repairs, lodging, and supplementary costs.

5️⃣ Do not make permanent repairs or dispose of damaged items before consulting with your agent. Ensure cleaners/contractors know what can and cannot be removed from the property.

6️⃣ Be wary of individuals who may be taking advantage of a situation by sweeping into your neighborhood after a catastrophic event. And remember, never pay for services upfront.

We hope you never deal with extensive damage to your property, but we want you all to be armed with knowledge in the event you do.
