Rates remain low 😁
We had a very typical rate dip a couple of weeks before the Federal Reserve meeting Jan 28. Outside of that, mortgage rates have been very steady.

In order for a Fed Funds Rate announcement to have a big impact, it must surprise the market. A rate cut (or lack of one) is rarely a surprise these days.

Rates hit a 3-yr low this week 😁

It’s been an up & down week, but if we ignore the past 5 days, today’s mortgage rates are still the lowest since early 2023.

The Good News:
The Treasury Dept has plans for Fannie and Freddie to buy $200 billion of mortgage-backed securities that directly dictate mortgage rates.

The Not-so-good News:
Treasury yields and Fed rate expectations have been rising, counterbalancing the good news
