News from the Journal of the American Medical Association:

Are there differences in care quality if you have Medicare Advantage vs. Medigap (Medicare Supplement)?

A recent study of 96,501 cancer patients shows Medicare Advantage patients had fewer chemotherapy treatments and fewer doctor visits than patients with a Medigap plan and guess what?

There was no impact on survival rate! (each groups lived as long as the other)

This makes a case for Medicare Advantage providing care at a lower cost... but does this study also say something about the effectiveness of chemotherapy (since more treatments didn't improve survival rates)?

To my followers of Seniors Covered,

Why the name change?

In April 1996, I was granted a license to practice Chiropractic. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to help thousands of patients be free of pain, restore normal motion, to have improved health and to live better lives. I don’t take credit for anything except for caring.

The Chiropractic profession has been good to me and good for me.

It was a bittersweet decision to retire, many years ago. But it was because of that, I was able to begin a decade of service in Education, which ultimately helped me build a school with my partner Sharon at Kids on 12th in Philadelphia.

Around 2016, someone asked me for help with Medicare. I was astonished by its complexity and I never dreamed it would grow into an actual business. But here we are.

As we begin the 2025 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), Medicare has become ever so more confusing.

So, I simply want to honor the profession that gave me the opportunity to actually be in this position.

Hence, changing the name of my page from “Seniors Covered” to “Chiro For Chiro” is my way to pay homage to the profession that has given me so much.

I will continue to accept and help everyone who is sent my way to understand, select, and enroll in their plans, so that they can enjoy their Golden Years without being haunted by Medicare.

The 2025 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is almost here! Lots of new changes this year. You might want to actually read that notice Medicare sends you every year! Especially, check your prescription drug plan’s deductible for 2025!

AEP for Medicare Advantage is Oct 15-Dec 7 - this your opportunity to find a better plan if you need one.

Medicare Supplement can be changed anytime of the year (health questions may be required)

3 sources for help:

1-Medicare.gov hires new agents every year and any one of them can sell you a medicare plan.

2-SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) (shiphelp.org) has information about medicare but they can’t be your agent or broker.

3-Dr. Rich Parenti (owner at Seniors Covered) A personal medicare advisor (who knows your name and coverage details) at no cost at all.

We can help you select your plan, apply for coverage, and service your account all year, every year.
