John Francis Ryan, son of Margaret and Bartholomew, was born on 06.06.1945 in NYC. John grew up in Towaco, NJ. After graduating high school, he continued his Catholic education at Georgetown University. Upon graduation, he joined the US Air Force, serving as a logistics officer. After his military service he went back to school for his MBA and worked in the insurance industry as a Senior Vice President of Marketing at Ace Insurance. In retirement he and Bennur turned their passion of travel, art and culture into business and established their own company “Silk Wool and Bijoux”.
John loved politics and served on the school board in Glastonbury, CT. He loved soccer, tennis, racquet ball, skiing and hiking. He loved music, art, world cultures and traveling. He traveled the world until his last days.
He is survived by his wife, Bennur Kokuz, his sister Dorothy Sonnenberg, his son John Jr, his daughter Tara, his step son Berge and step daughter Michell, his two grandchildren, Hayley and Ronan, his niece Beth Ann Moloughney, his granddog Milo, other family members and friends he cherished.
