Over the next two weeks you will be receiving your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your carriers. This is for your Medicare Advantage plans and stand alone prescription drug plans. Take a peak and reach out with questions.

Some plans dodged some major bullets and stayed fairly steady for 2025. The changes they made, so did all the rest.

There are though many plans where this was not the case. If they aren't pulling plans out of the market, they are pulling back on plan benefits to entice you to start shopping.

Crazy stat I heard from a higher up just a few days ago. There will be an estimated 35-40% plan change rate for this Annual Enrollment period. That is more than DOUBLE what we are used to. I believe a lot of that will be more fear of ads and misunderstanding. There are still steady options out there and I'm glad that majority of my clients are in those plans.

Some of you we will be looking at new options though. Don't be upset over it, it's just name of the game. We will always find your best fit!

The things that are going on with the Inflation Reduction Act in Washington DC is just WILD.

Let's just say we've dodged a bullet for 1 year on sky rocketing Medicare Part D premiums. We've been told for the last year and half it would be this year but let's just say there's been a "bailout" behind the scene by the government. The caveat to that, it's said to be for 1 year.

So with that, good news! We won't see the skyrocket in premiums for PDP's and MAPD's! Not this year at least...

I still don't love what we're seeing on the coverage of drugs. Starting January 1, no one can pay more than $2,000 a year for their prescriptions. Great for anyone that has ever done that. The donut hole has also been "eliminated".

BUT, with that, name brand drugs on almost all plans will now come with a coinsurance and not a co pay. If you or someone you know are paying $40+ for a 1 month supply of a drug on a Medicare plan... expect those costs to rise immediately come January. Good news, seeing a lot of plans go to $0 co pays on their tier 1 and 2 drugs at preferred pharmacies...

There will be a program calling co pay smoothing as well. What it is, you can spread your copays out over 12 months for those expensive drugs. You won't pay anything at your pharmacy but get a bill every month from your prescription drug plan... Does not save you money, just spreads it. Think of it like budget billing with your electric company.

TIme's are changing and we'll find the way through it! Just over 7 weeks and the Annual Enrollment Period will be here where it's time to go over your plan benefits. Looking forward to hearing from you!

These are top minds in the Medicare world that are trying to help limit the disruption that is currently coming down the line...

The Inflation Reduction Act is significantly impacting Medicare and Part D benefits. Premiums are rising while there are fewer options for seniors to choose from.

I implore you that if you are eligible for your states Pharmaceutical Assistance program... get the application, fill it out and have it for the coming years. Prescription coverage will be one major change for next year across the board. Medicare Advantage plans and Stand alone PDP plans. I'm not just talking premiums. I'm talking co pays and deductibles as well. The days of $0 generics may be over on January 1.

Every state has a pharmaceutical assistance program. Check with yours to see if you are eligible.

NJ PAAD - income limit is $52,142 for single, $59,209 if married
PA PACE/PACENET - income limit is $33,500 for single, $41,500 if married.

THESE NUMBERS ARE JUST ABOUT INCOME (yes SS counts) The amount you have in the bank or other assets are not counted.

These plans set limits on what you, yourself, can pay out of pocket for your covered prescriptions. It may also pay up to a certain amount if your plan has a monthly premium.

Get ahead of the curve of changes that are coming in less then 6 months please!

Tell your family and friends! Most states these programs are only for 65 and older. These applications can take weeks to process so even if you don't need it now, be proactive for changes in the future.

This is one of the top MEDICAID providers in the state of PA and a hospital that serves a lot of patients currently receiving Medicaid in Philadelphia. When negotiations break down between insurers and providers things can become very confusing. I’ve seen this many times where it gets sorted out before then deadline because in reality they need EACH OTHER to not only serve the people of the community but let’s face it, keep profitability for each other.

What I hate is how quickly these hospital systems will say change your insurance and put panic into the system of people. It’s all part of it but it’s not pretty.

Over the next couple months I will be making some posts about what I am hearing and what I believe the Medicare landscape will look like for 2025. I'm not going to sugarcoat it... thing's are not looking very positive for beneficiaries. When I say that I mean, across the board, whether you have a Medicare Supplement plan with standalone Part D coverage or a Medicare Advantage plan.

There have been a lot of new rules/laws/regulations handed out over the past few months by CMS. In the headlines, they sound like they will help and for a small percentage, they will. In the big picture, it's pretty concerning.

Utilization with all plans is currently at an all time high. People are using their insurance more and more and I think a lot of carriers took advantage of low utilization during the height of Covid. They used the low utilization to lower premiums, boost benefits eliminate deductibles but now what?

This will undoubtedly be the most disruptive Annual Enrollment Period since I've been in the business. It's not just one plan or one company either. It's ALL of them.

We'll make it through to the other side but this year will be very important to anyone on Medicare to get with their trusted advisor. Do not try to "figure it out on your own". I beg you to not take these changes lightly and just assume that it is what it is. We'll find the best fit for you.

Any questions when it comes to Medicare or your current plan please feel free to reach out either here or call or email. My information is below.
