We are saddened by the passing of a longtime friend of our institution and our community college system, Mr. William H. Talley, III.
For more than 30 years, Mr. Talley, of Petersburg, actively advocated for our college and its students. During that time, he served on our Foundation Board and our College Board, and he was appointed to the State Board for Community Colleges. He also supported our students through the establishment of the William H. Talley, III Endowed Scholarship and the Betty White Talley Endowed Scholarship.
Mr. Talley’s generosity and commitment to our mission and our students earned him the college’s Homer C. Eliades Legacy Award, the Virginia Community College System’s Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy, and an honorary degree from our institution. The William H. Talley, III Center for Workforce Development at our Chester Campus is named in his honor.
We are grateful for Mr. Talley and the impact he had on our college and students. We ask that you keep the Talley family in your thoughts.
