President’s Day is known for its eye-catching auto deals. That’s why we wanted to reach out with a reminder if you’re planning on buying a new car this February: Be sure you have a plan in place for your car insurance coverage.

Many insurers automatically extend your current coverage to a newly purchased car for a limited time — typically seven to 30 days. However, before your grace period ends, you’ll need to be sure your new car is fully added to your auto policy and that your coverage is keeping up with your new vehicle.

Additionally, if you’re getting rid of an older car as you purchase a new one, you’ll want to make sure the older vehicle is removed from your policy.

December 26th is National Homeowners Day, a timely opportunity to highlight the importance of well-rounded coverage for your home.

While homeowners insurance covers many risks, it doesn’t cover everything. Here are a few areas where standard policies may leave gaps:

⭕ Flood damage - Rising water from heavy rain or overflowing rivers isn’t included in most homeowners policies.
⭕ Earthquakes - Standard coverage usually leaves a home unprotected from earthquake damage.
⭕ Sewer or drain backup - Even small backups can lead to expensive cleanup and repairs, which are typically only covered with optional protection.
⭕ High-value items - Jewelry, fine art, collectibles, and other expensive items often exceed standard policy limits.
