Thundering Hill Farm started as a 4-H project in 1992 with a little girl, a pair of chocolate Dutch rabbits, and a dream. Over 20 years later we now have grown into our new location In Perryopolis, PA minutes from Gene and Boots Candies owned and operated by a mom with her 3 small humans. We raise Hereford Beef, Kiko Meat Goats, Toggenberg Dairy Goats, Free Range Eggs, Pastured Chickens and Turkey

s, and have a few Quarter Horses of our Own. We also have a small bee yard, a large garden to provide produce, and sell meat boxes seasonally. Most notably, we grow and sell hay and straw. We hope to open the feed store full time and be able to deliver a full service feed and forage experience. We pride ourselves in dual purpose animals. We want our livestock to not only look nice in the show arena but perform in the field and on your plate. We are constantly evolving looking for the best, most sustainable practices available to us. We kid twice a year once early Spring and again mid-Fall. If you are interested in a buck from us please reserve early. We price our hay according to costs, not the market. What this means for our customers is financial planning made easy. The price we quote you in May is the same price you pay the entire year regardless of what the hay market does. We would like to send out a special thank you to all of our friends and customers who have helped us along the way.

10% of all of our sales are donated to local charities and organizations. We accept Cash, Business Checks, PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, and Credit Cards for our customer's convenience.

We’re not just turning cattle loose in a field and calling it pasture management. There’s a little more science involved than vibes and a fence charger. 😂

We’re moving toward a much more intentional rotational grazing system with smaller paddocks, reliable water access, planned movement, and actual recovery time for the ground. Done properly, rotational grazing improves forage quality, encourages stronger root systems, spreads manure more evenly, reduces erosion, and helps the pasture become more productive instead of slowly being grazed into submission.

We’re also changing the cattle side of the operation and phasing out the Herefords in favor of Red Devons and British Whites. The goal is to build a herd that fits a forage first, grass based system instead of forcing the land to fit the cattle.

And because apparently managing pasture, water, fencing, and an entirely different cattle program wasn’t enough, the next projects are high tunnels and cover crops.

The bigger picture is pretty simple. Healthier soil grows better forage. Better forage supports healthier, more efficient livestock. Better management gives the land a chance to improve instead of merely survive.

So yes, the dirt has a strategic plan now.

After much contemplation, we’ve made the decision to end our lease in Vanderbilt and move Thundering Hill’s operations back to the farm. 🌾🩷

Unfortunately, the ongoing roof leaks and water intrusion have simply become too much to continue working around. At this point, putting more time, money, and energy into a leased building just doesn’t make sense for us.

As we clean out the Vanderbilt location, we do have merchandise available for sale. Some items have sustained water damage and will be priced accordingly — these may be better suited for non-picky horses, cattle, or other livestock rather than customers looking for perfect-condition product. We also have plenty of regular, undamaged merchandise that we’ll be selling as part of the move.

For the farmers-market side of things, our friends will soon be opening Thorn & Thistle Homestead Market on Route 51 in the former Craig’s Farm to Table building, beside the former Marcel’s location and the new Madd Mason shop. 🌻🐝

Thundering Hill isn’t going anywhere — we’re just changing how and where we operate.

Stay tuned for clearance items, moving updates, and the next phase of life at Thundering Hill. 🩷🌾

A little farm store update as we head into fall 🌾

We’re making some changes to how we handle bagged feed going forward.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll be phasing out most of our everyday retail inventory of traditional bagged feeds. We’ll continue to be Buckeye and Kalmbach dealers, but we’re moving primarily to a pre-order/bulk-order model rather than keeping a large amount of feed inventory sitting in the store.

A few things aren’t changing:

🌾 Our hay, straw, forage products, hay cubes & hay pellets aren’t going anywhere.

🐴 We’ll continue carrying a small selection of the Kalmbach and other products that we use here on our own farm or that consistently move every month.

📦 Orders of 5+ bags can still be ordered through us, along with specialty and bulk orders.

🐦 Specialty bird seed will still be available.

🦌 Our custom forage deer blend is staying too.

And we’re still available for forage sourcing, nutrition programs, bulk orders and delivery.

Basically, we’re keeping the things that make sense, eliminating inventory that doesn’t need to sit on a retail floor, and putting more of our energy back into the forage side of the business—which has always been a huge part of what we do.

Same farm. Same dealer relationships. Just a simpler way of doing things. 🌾🖤

More changes coming as we get everything organized for fall.

A little Thundering Hill update because we’ve been suspiciously quiet lately 😂🌾

We’re still here. We’ve just reached the glamorous part of finally wrapping up the fire mess: sorting through approximately 900 categories of stuff and figuring out what we actually need, what belongs where, and why on earth I apparently saved some of this. 😂

Over the next few weeks we’ll be going through farm inventory, store inventory, household items, fire inventory, kids’ stuff and all of the random things that accumulated while life was basically operating out of multiple places.

Which means: CLEAN-OUT SALE. 🙌

There are going to be tons of baby and kids items, household stuff, farm things, fixtures, random treasures and probably some “I forgot we even owned this” specials.

We’re also reorganizing Thundering Hill inventory and getting things set up for fall and winter, so things may stay a little quieter than normal while we get everything sorted.

Nothing dramatic. No disappearing act. Just finally getting our life, farm and business back into some kind of organized chaos after a very long couple of years. 😂

I’ll start posting sale stuff as we work through it, so keep an eye on the page.

And if you see me attempting to keep something I have not used since the fire, please intervene. 😂🌾

🌾 💚💛

It’s been a while since y’all have seen me back where I belong—running the show around here.

Around here, there isn’t an office staff. It’s just me. If the sun’s out, I’m probably in the field making hay, loading orders, or delivering to customers.

Many of our social media posts are scheduled while I’m in the field, so if you see me posting, I may still be on a tractor with little or no cell service. Text is always the best way to reach me, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. If you need a reply by a certain time, please include the latest time I can text you back. We start early and often work late, so knowing your availability helps me return messages without disturbing you.

We’re wrapping up these fields this weekend, then it’s on to the next farm. My best bub has been learning the terrain, the equipment, and the business this week. There’s no better classroom than the hay field. 🚜🌾

Whether you’re feeding one horse, a whole barn, or a herd, we have quality hay for every need, every budget, and in all shapes and sizes. Small squares, large squares, rounds, premium horse hay, utility hay, bedding, and more—we’ll help you find the right fit.

Some days it’s tractors and cattle. Some days it’s tutus and recital buns. 🌾➡️🩰

If we’ve seemed a little quiet this week, we’ve been running from farm chores and feed deliveries straight to dance rehearsals every night. Between costume changes, late-night practices, and recital weekend, it’s been a busy one.

Behind every hay bale, farm stand, nursing shift, and long day are these little faces. Watching them work so hard and shine on stage makes every mile and every late night worth it. 💙🩵✨

Now that recital week is wrapping up, we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled farm chaos. 🚜🌱🐄
