It's that time of the month be sure to check our the latest episode of the Cultivate & Connect Podcast with guest Kristi Smith.

From Projects to Purpose: The Power of 4-H with Kristi Smith.
In this episode of the Cultivate and Connect Podcast, host Charlie Hensley sits down with Kristi Smith, the Peoria County 4-H Youth Development Program Coordinator with Illinois Extension, to explore how 4-H helps young people grow as leaders, communicators, and future agricultural advocates. Drawing on Kristi Smith’s lifelong 4-H experience from member to volunteer to coordinator. The conversation highlights how hands-on learning, livestock projects, judging teams, and opportunities to try new things can build confidence, life skills, and lasting connections for youth both on and off the farm. Tune in for an inspiring discussion about the role 4-H plays in strengthening agricultural education, community engagement, and the next generation of leaders.

Check out this feature story on our Board President Cheryl Walsh. We are proud to have her leadership and dedication as a part of our organization.

The Walsh family farm is a 4th-generation farm growing corn, soybeans, and hay and raising beef cattle and pigs. Rooted in traditions passed down since the 1930s, the Walsh family continues to farm with care while helping more than 250 classrooms learn where their food comes from.

Today we celebrated an exciting new chapter with the groundbreaking of our future Peoria County Farm Bureau building!

Our new facility will include an office space with 8 offices, a conference room, and a small kitchen area. Attached to the office will be our event space with concrete flooring, heating, and air conditioning. This space will be available year round for our members to rent for family, business, or social gatherings. We will host our Farm Bureau events, programs, and even annual meeting in this space. We invite all of our Peoria County 4-H clubs to utilize this space for meetings, classes, and projects. Local FFA groups will also have the opportunity to use this facility for their events, CDE’s, and more.

We’re grateful for everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone and the continued growth of our agricultural community. Here’s to building a space that will serve, support, and strengthen local farmers and families for years to come.
