Well, after enduring too much abuse in downtown Peoria, Daddy Warbucks made the long trek to Tennessee, where he will become ambassador of the farm.🦬🌾

He will get a total makeover and keep watch at the front gates here. 😊

Are you fortunate enough to work for an employer that offers a 401(k) plan and matches contributions?

Take advantage of their generosity by at least investing a percentage that they will match to maximize your investment.

For instance, if your employer matches up to 3%, contribute that amount consistently and watch it add up!

Small business owners who want their business to live on well after they are no longer working should build a succession plan.

One thing our team specializes in is helping our clients who own businesses not only grow those businesses and create wealth but also create a solid plan for their businesses to thrive in their absence.

Adding our son Noah to the Slater Wealth Management practice is part of our personal succession plan.

I created what I call a Financial First Aid Kit that I share with our clients who are interested in becoming organized in case of the inevitable.

Once you create something like this "kit," share it with the ones who will care for things when you cannot, to make the process smooth for them.

Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans have inactive 401(k)s worth thousands of dollars? Don't let your hard-earned money go to waste! Here's how to reclaim yours.

How to find a lost 401(k):
1. Contact your old employer's HR department
2. Check old 401(k) statements for account details
3. Use look-up databases like the National Registry of Unclaimed Retirement Benefits or the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators
4. Check the Department of Labor's abandoned plan database

Once you've located your plan, you can:
🔁 Request a direct rollover to your new employer's plan
💼 Transfer the funds into an existing IRA
🤔Cash it out (but beware of taxes and penalties)

Rolling over an old 401(k) into a new plan can be a pain, but it's typically worth the hassle.
