Better Banks is excited to sponsor on Friday, September 11th, from 5-8 p.m. Jeff Smith, Realtor, is hosting this event at Hickory Grove Elementary School to raise awareness and donations for Foster Village Peoria. Several local food trucks will be available, along with opportunities to learn about and donate to Foster Village Peoria, plus a touch-a-truck event featuring the Dunlap Community Fire Protection District, Peoria County Sheriff's Office, and Advanced Medical Transport! Come on out for some great food and to support a wonderful cause, while enjoying a perfect family-friendly evening.

Weโ€™re seeing an increase in a new type of debit card scam, and we want to make sure our customers know what to watch for.

Scammers are calling customers and ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—บ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ธโ€™๐˜€ ๐—™๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐—ฑ ๐——๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜. They may tell you there has been suspicious activity on your debit card and ask you to provide a ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ-๐˜๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ to โ€œstop the fraud.โ€

The scammer may use that code to add your debit card to ๐—”๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ด๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐˜†. Once added, they can use your card to make purchases in storesโ€”using your money.
