Did you know? Losing your job doesn't mean you have to go without health insurance.

Here's something a lot of people don't realize: if you lose your job (and your health insurance along with it), you don't have to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to get covered again.

You likely qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) — a window where you can sign up for a new health plan outside the normal enrollment dates.

A few things to know:

🕐 The window is short. You typically have about 60 days from the date you lose coverage to enroll. Miss it, and you may be stuck waiting months for the next open enrollment.

📋 You'll need proof of loss of coverage. Things like a termination letter or COBRA notice can usually work.

💰 You may qualify for subsidies. Many people don't realize how much help is available through the Marketplace to lower monthly premiums.

🔍 Your options may be better than COBRA. COBRA lets you keep your old plan, but it's often far more expensive than what you'd pay for a new Marketplace plan.

If you or someone you know has recently lost job-based coverage, it's worth checking your options before that 60-day window closes.
