The power of "what if" can either paralyze you or ignite a passion for change in your career or life. My most significant career pivot came with many questions, and those who knew me were surprised it didn't happen sooner.
Nine years ago, I made the decision to leave a successful career at Sherwin-Williams. I transitioned from selling paint to working in the investments business. The fear of "what if it went wrong?" loomed large, especially as I took a $20,000 pay cut while my wife was pregnant with our third child.
But I chose to focus on "what if things worked out?" Today, I am more fulfilled, rooted in my city, better off economically, and I own my own investment firm. I encourage anyone reading this to consider the possibilities of "what if things worked out" more often. Take action and avoid being stuck in your current situation.
