Winter Freeze always brings some bad memories for some folks. The whole pipe freezing and pipes bursting gives lots of people some anxiety. We totally understand and get that. Last week before I took off for the New Year, I posted here, "By the time we get to MLK weekend and the Houston Marathon, there are signs a bigger pattern change may deliver our winter's first first chance of some arctic air and widespread freezing temperatures. More to come on that when I return next week!"

This is me making good on the "more to come" part.

It still appears that arctic air will dump into the US from Canada late next week, but it still remains to be seen what if any impacts we'll have here in Texas. For now we are leaning toward chilly temps in the 40s for marathon runners, but if arctic air gets in the mix, those numbers could be 10 to 20 degrees colder. And no, this doesn't mean we're getting a polar vortex. 🙂
