East Palo Alto’s Woodland Park apartments — a massive collection of more than 1,800 rent-stabilized units — are about to change hands in a blockbuster deal that puts a new landlord in charge of more than half of the city’s multifamily rental housing stock. Interesting innovative commercial building products. The report suggests it will be great for de-icing airports, but we can see it useful in parking lots of shopping centers, apartment complexes, office areas and for areas where ice is a problem! Maybe not as needed in [sunny, warm] California areas!

The implementation of this new composite material could slash airport delays, although for reasons you may not have expected.

California is home to more residential solar customers than any other state. Regulators extended a policy that has helped the expansion of rooftop solar power, adding fees for future users but rejecting changes sought by big utilities.

Did you see last week's announcement from Hyperloop Transportation Technologies that it’s filed official paperwork with Kings County, California, to start construction of a test track in Quay Valley for later this year? What an innovative project! We can't wait to hear more.

Plans to construct the beginnings of Elon Musk's Hyperloop are now underway in Quay Valley, California. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) announced plans for a 5-mile test track late last year and is about to break ground on an initial framework for what HTT CEO Dirk Ahlborn hopes will become the U.S. transportation infrastructure of the future.Musk first proposed the Hyperloop, a vacuum tube intended to speedily shoot passengers at 800 mph from city to city, in 2013. The idea was to create a mechanism of transportation that could get folks from San Francisco to Los Angeles in under 30 minutes.But Musk was a busy man, managing both Tesla and SpaceX, and left building plans up to others.HTT is one of two startups to take on the task since then. We are distraught to keep hearing about the economic struggles affecting parts of SoCal. So many local businesses are struggling with this slow-to-fix gas leak that started back in October 2015. The news suggests some businesses are down by 60% or more in sales around the Porter Ranch area.

Resident are moving away until the massive methane gas leak, which began three months ago and has led to thousands of health complaints, can be fixed.
