Look at those melons!

I’m a first time melon grower. These are watermelons and cantaloupe. Temperatures topped 113 degrees and all of the tiny melons and most of the flowers dropped from the vines a few weeks ago. I kept feeding them. Birds and bees disappeared for a week to escape smoke from nearby fires. They’re baaack.

In my youth I was easily disappointed when things weren’t perfect. Time
spent being disappointed is an attitude that squanders the preciousness of being grateful and the ability to be resilient. Nature is relentless. Nature focuses on goals. Nature doesn’t worry about the smoke, the birds or the bees. Be like nature. Don’t just survive. Thrive.
