When I think about financial literacy, the thing that I usually talk to people about is that it's really simply understanding how money works, so that you can start to have it work for you! The desire for this understanding also makes you a good steward of your blessings.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Financial literacy is made up of all the different functional areas that are covered in this picture, and we're going to dive deeper into them on an individual basis, but first and foremost, it's just understanding the mindset of wealth planning and it's importance that I think is FUNDAMENTAL to grasp.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many people regardless of age, race, creed or orientation don't have this skill-set because it's not something that we were taught necessarily in school, or that is talked about in our home life for most communities. So it is of the utmost importance that we recognize that it is a necessary skill - hence "recognizing the game" - and recognizing that it's possible for you to obtain it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What parts of this picture do you think I should dive deeper into first? I’m here for you.

Let’s be motivated by getting money smart! 💰💵🔑

A lot of people have been reaching out to me asking for finance advice during the Covid-19 crisis, and as a private wealth advisor with all the knowledge and expertise that I'm around on a daily basis at Capital group I thought it fitting to start sharing guidance here on IG.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Shouting from the rooftop* 🗣 This moment is a really critical time for people, especially those who can NOT afford to be my client.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I decided that I want to stand in and help people understand what's happening and to recognize that we're in a moment in time when - The wealth Gap widens!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here's why:
1. Those that have means and do understand the markets and how they work are able to stand firm and take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves right now.
2. They have plans in place and understand the fundamentals of how this system works.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As I explain this to guys, I realize that it has always been about the fundamentals!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fundamentals in basketball and fundamentals in finance. They're all the same. The importance of Mastery is at the core of success.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This time in quarantine brings me back to my core fundamentals. This photo represents the pinnacle of my basketball career, making it to the Olympics in 2012. It's an amazing memory that I love to look back at and remember, but most importantly it also reminds me what feels like to live in the RESULT of mastering your craft. My basketball career taught me lessons about fundamentals and mastery that I apply daily: to my finance career & life.
As an athlete, I find that all the same values and discipline that was needed to be great in the game, also applies to financial success.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In this olympic game I didn't have to think when I dribbled, or passed or shot or made a layup... just like my billionaire clients don't have to think "what do I do now" during a financial downturn.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So as a former olympian and current wealth advisor, I will share with you some Finance Fundamentals that are critical to your financial success. Take note ✍🏿
