My bank texted me about someone trying to get into my account.

My heart nearly beat out of my chest as I read the message. I only had enough money in there to pay my rent in two days.

They said they needed me to verify my account number so they could protect my money. I didn't think twice. I sent it and breathed a huge sigh of relief.

An hour later, I found out the message WASN'T FROM MY BANK AT ALL.

The scammer had used fear to make me act before I had time to think.

When a message makes you panic, that's when you need to slow down.

Don't use the link or phone number in the message. Contact your bank using the phone number on the back of your debit card.

Fully remote. Great benefits. More money than I had ever made.

They asked for my account number so they could deposit my sign-on bonus. It sounded legitimate, so I gave it to them.

The next morning, my money was gone.

The job was fake. The offer was fake. And now I'm left trying to figure out what to do next.

Scams don't always look like scams. Sometimes, they look like the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Before you respond, look up the company yourself. Call the number on its official website and make sure the job is real.
