Sharing this as a reminder of how quickly life can change. Apartment fires don’t just damage buildings—they displace families, destroy personal belongings, and create unexpected financial stress overnight.

One thing I hear all the time is, “I don’t need renters insurance.” But situations like this are exactly why it matters. When the unexpected happens, having coverage can make a huge difference—helping with temporary housing, replacing belongings, and getting back on your feet.

It’s easy to overlook, until it’s not. Worth taking a few minutes to look into if you don’t already have it.

At least six people were injured after a fire erupted at an apartment building in Des Plaines early Wednesday morning.

Talked with a homeowner recently who assumed their policy would fully cover a rebuild…

After reviewing it, we found a pretty big gap due to increased construction costs.

With the latest hail storm moving through our area, it’s a good time to review your homeowners insurance policy or contact your agent before filing a claim to make sure you fully understand your coverage and deductible.

Unfortunately, after major storms there are often contractors who go door-to-door looking for work. While some may be legitimate, others may be “storm chasers.” Be cautious and take the time to do your research before agreeing to any inspections or repairs.

✔️ Verify licenses, reviews, and references before hiring a contractor
