After the flooding that happened in Cincinnati on Friday evening … (here’s a picture I took of the storm) I thought it would be a good time to give quick and simple Flood Insurance tidbits.

You must live in a participating community to obtain flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Those living in Cincinnati may have been able to get Flood Insurance for their homes, however, most people not living in a high risk flood zone don’t do that.

Your Home Insurance will typically exclude flooding, also known as ground water.

Also, two or more consecutive properties must flood before an actual flood claim can be submitted.

Makes me sad to know that lives were lost and people aren’t going to have financial help for what happened.

NEW KY LAW!!!!!!!!! 👮

NEW KENTUCKY SCHOOL BUS SAFETY LAW EFFECTIVE JULY 15, 2026

THE NEW RULE:
Drivers must stop for a school or church bus displaying its stop arm and flashing red lights from either direction on all roads.

WHEN YOU MUST STOP:
If there is no physical barrier or unpaved median, you must stop ---even on a four-lane road.

THE ONLY EXCEPTION:
You do not have to stop when traveling in the opposite direction on a roadway with four or more lanes that is separated by an elevated barrier or an unpaved median.

VEHICLE OWNER RESPONSIBILITY:
If a driver illegally passes a stopped school bus and cannot be identified, Kentucky law now presumes the registered owner or lessee was driving and subjects them to the penalties provided by law unless that presumption is rebutted.

Help keep our students safe:
- Slow down
- Stay alert
- Put your phone away
- Watch for flashing lights

A few extra seconds can save a life.

If I don’t write your insurance with a particular carrier, unfortunately, I can’t access your policy with that carrier, EVEN IF I write through them.

For example, I just had a call where a guy has Progressive. He was having trouble accessing his online portal. I gave him their customer service number. He’s Progressive Direct and has no local agent … he kept stating he lives in Park Hills. That doesn’t matter, unfortunately.

Yes, I write through Progressive, but I am not entitled to look at ALL Progressive policies. I only have access to what our agency writes.

We write through MANY different carriers and it is this way with all of them.
