Planning a Roth conversion in a year you also owe a required minimum distribution? Order matters.

The RMD comes out first. Every time. That amount can't be rolled over or converted.

Once it's satisfied, you can convert additional pretax dollars. The converted amount generally lands in this year's taxable income, and it shifts more of your wealth toward assets that can grow tax-free.

That decision reaches past April: future RMDs, retirement income, and whether your beneficiaries inherit taxable assets or tax-free ones.

Before year-end, ask yourself: am I making this decision for this year's tax bill, or for the plan behind it?

Four numbers worth knowing if you already have a trust.

$15 million: the 2026 federal estate and gift tax exclusion per individual.

$19,000: the 2026 annual gift-tax exclusion per recipient.

10 years: how long many non-spouse beneficiaries have to empty an inherited retirement account.

3 years: how long transferred life insurance can be pulled back into the insured's gross estate.

Each one can quietly change how your trust performs: its tax assumptions, its gifting provisions, who inherits your retirement accounts and how fast.

Your trust may not have changed. The rules around it have. When did you last review yours?

A will and a trust do different jobs. Most women need both.

A will names who gets certain property after your death. It's also the only place you can nominate guardians for minor children.

A trust does its work sooner. It holds property while you're alive, lets someone you choose step in if you can't manage things yourself, and controls when your beneficiaries receive what you leave them.

One catch: it only governs assets that have been transferred into it. A trust that owns nothing controls nothing.

So, what job does each one do in your plan?

One of my favorite quick resets: audit your life.

I do this intentionally at least once a quarter, but somehow airports have become one of my favorite places to do it too. ✈️

I divide a page into four sections and ask:

• What am I currently doing well?
• What are my basics or comfort-zone things I’m already doing?
• What could I do better to elevate?
• What action can I take toward improvement?

You can do it for your life, business, finances, health, relationships or any area that matters to you.

It takes maybe 10 minutes, but it helps me notice where I’ve drifted, where I’m growing and what deserves my attention next.

Sometimes staying aligned doesn’t require a whole new plan. Just a good check-in with yourself. 🩷

This August, Ask Her is talking about trusts, and where legacy plans quietly fall out of sync.

Here's why: no single document controls your legacy.

1) Your will directs probate assets.
2) Your trust controls only what you've put in it.
3) Retirement accounts and life insurance follow their beneficiary forms.
4) Your home passes based on how the deed is titled.

Four sets of instructions. If they aren’t aligned, the conflict arises only after you’ve passed, and your wishes cannot truly be honored.

That gap matters, especially for women.

So before this month's resources arrive, ask yourself: do my documents, asset titles, and beneficiary forms all agree?

Divorce wasn't something I ever imagined would be part of my story.

I was with my high school sweetheart for 13 years. We had built a life together, welcomed two beautiful children and I was running a thriving business. Then, in what felt like a moment, the future I had pictured was gone.

While everyone could see the logistics of divorce, what they couldn't see was the grief and uncertainty. I wasn't just making financial decisions. I was grieving the loss of the life I thought I would have. I was raising very young children, trying to keep a business moving forward and carrying the weight of what felt like a thousand decisions, all while wondering if I was making the right ones.

Every choice felt permanent. Every unknown felt overwhelming.

What I wanted more than anything was someone who could say, "You're going to be okay. Here's what this decision means. Here are your options. Let's walk through this together."

I didn't have that guide.

Looking back, I realize that what I needed wasn't just investment advice. I needed clarity. I needed someone to help remove the fear, explain the process and help me make confident decisions for my future.

That's why becoming a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® means so much to me.

Today, I have the privilege of walking alongside women during one of the hardest seasons of their lives. My role isn't to tell them what to do. It's to help them understand their choices, protect what matters most and move forward with confidence instead of fear.

Divorce changes your story. It doesn't have to define your future.

If you're navigating this season, please know you don't have to figure it out alone. There is a path forward, and there is hope on the other side. 🤍

If you need help removing the fear and finding clarity, that's what I do! I am here for you.

The biggest investment story of 2026 isn't simply AI. It's what comes after the infrastructure boom.

Billions have already been invested in data centers, semiconductors, and computing power. The next question investors should be asking is: Which companies will actually turn those investments into lasting profits?

As your portfolio grows, it's worth looking beyond the biggest headlines and considering where long-term value may ultimately be created.

Sometimes the next market leaders aren't the ones making the most noise today. Curious how AI, earnings, inflation, and other market forces could influence the second half of the year? Download our 2026 Mid-Year Outlook to explore the full investment perspective.

More than $8 trillion is currently sitting in money market funds as investors wait for the "right" opportunity to invest.

While holding cash can feel safe, history has shown that trying to perfectly time the market is incredibly difficult. By the time the "all clear" arrives, markets have often already begun moving.

For newer investors, the better question may not be "When should I invest?" but rather "Do I have a strategy that lets me invest consistently, regardless of the headlines?"

Building wealth isn't about predicting tomorrow. It's about creating habits that can last for decades.Want to dive deeper into this and other trends shaping today's markets?

At a certain stage, budgeting becomes less about monthly spending and more about coordination.

Multiple accounts. Charitable goals. Family support. Travel. Business interests. Retirement income. Legacy planning.

The question becomes: is every part of your financial life working from the same picture?

This month, Ask Her is helping accomplished investors look at budgeting through a wider lens: cash flow, tax planning, income timing, giving, and long-term family priorities.

Because even a strong financial life benefits from structure.

A thoughtful budget can help protect flexibility, reduce friction, and keep wealth aligned with what matters most.
