I love the month of March. Aside from the fact that one day it’s 0 degrees and later in the week 80…at least in Nebraska. March Madness, golf, Spring in the air.
From a career perspective, it’s always an anniversary month. March 2026 actually marks 15 YEARS (🥳) in which I’ve been a Farm Bureau Agent. I desired this specific role after extensive research to allow me to build a business my way, employ and lead a team I could be proud of, and offering a top-notch product/service for my community. I didn’t want to work for “The Man” any longer.
Another great benefit of this role is I’ve also had the opportunity to grow other businesses concurrently, which has been extremely difficult, but also incredibly rewarding. I established a growing Sports Card business with my oldest son, Trey, 5 years ago and also now own commercial real estate to provide additional sources of income. I have no partners in any of my endeavors. All 100% ownership. I took The Oracle of Omaha’s words to heart early: "Never depend on a single income. Make investments to create a second source.” - Warren Buffett
The insurance and investment business is tough. There’s a reason so many try and fail, at least with the initial attempt of being a captive agent. God granted me with strength to overcome extreme hard things in life somehow. This is my superpower 😂. Perhaps a result of my South Omaha and Oxford roots. South Omahans are extremely hard working , tough, and loyal people. Almost to a fault. Oxford…well if you know you know. I dealt with bullying early and fought my way out. Moving to a town of 700 people in 7th grade was possibly my greatest challenge in my life. I’ve come to the conclusion that I can deal with anything. My faith has always been my strength and my guide.
My wife and 3 boys are why I push so hard now. I want my boys to have a father to aspire towards. As it relates to my wife, she’s always been my top cheerleader. Perhaps my most significant accomplishment is knowing that over the past 10+ years, I’ve been able to navigate being the sole breadwinner for our home. Only my income. My beautiful wife, with all her many talents, wanted to be a stay-at-home mother, and she’s done it for 10 years like a champion.
And today’s my birthday. 🎂😉 I’m not getting any younger but my gray hairs have a story.
Be blessed today!!
