🏡 Community Conversations: Meet Brian Miller of the Arthur-Lugibihl Community Center
Our latest Community Conversation takes us to a place that has played an important role in the Pandora community for generations, the Arthur-Lugibihl Community Center (ALCC).
We sat down with Brian Miller, President of the ALCC Board, to learn more about the history of the Community Center and the many volunteers who work behind the scenes to keep it going.
In 2003, the old gymnasium was saved through the generosity of the Pandora community during the first capital campaign. The Village of Pandora purchased the building for just $1, and the ALCC has continued to operate as a nonprofit organization supported by volunteers, donations, rental income, Ted Fest and the annual Purse Bingo.
Board members do much of the work themselves and have continued to make improvements to the facility, including new windows, a new roof membrane and a new scoreboard sponsored by First National Bank. They are currently working on plans for new acoustic panels.
The ALCC also partners with the school, providing space for practices and games throughout the year, including elementary and junior high volleyball and basketball. Gym memberships are also available.
One of the community's favorite traditions is Christmas at the Community Center, featuring “train” rides, photos with Santa, cookies, hot cocoa and popcorn. 🎄🎅
The ALCC is a great example of what can happen when a community comes together. Thank you, Brian, and all of the ALCC volunteers, for the time and effort you give to keep this special part of Pandora's community going!
