Somewhere out there, a Broker Bob is still checking the Sunday paper for his listings and wondering where all his agents went.

A little love letter to everyone who's been told that a cassette tape from 1987 is "brilliant at the basics," that the broker is always right, and that loyalty to the brokerage should come before loyalty to your own family. 😂

A story worth keeping in your back pocket.

When Warren Buffett was in graduate school, he and his best friend were cut from the same cloth — smart, ambitious, big plans. The friend took the safe path: a salary, strong bonuses, the vacation packages, money right away. Buffett went into money management, where the early years paid far less.

Twenty years later they compared notes. The friend had a comfortable, upper-middle-class life. Buffett was well on his way to becoming a billionaire.

Same starting point. Very different long games. The early paycheck isn't always the one that matters. Which game are you playing? 💭

Birthdays have a way of making you take inventory.

And every year the list of what counts gets shorter. The family. Friends. The people who turned into family somewhere along the way.

Somewhere in there is the work, but here's the thing about it that took a while to understand: the work was only ever worth it for what it made room for. Twelve years building time freedom meant something because it gave the time back. And the team that grew up around it — a few thousand strong now, everywhere, all chasing the same kind of life — and this isn't about bragging. This is a number worth being grateful for, because every one of them is a person who decided they wanted more and went and built it.

So no, today isn't about another candle. It's a quiet thank-you to the people who make the life worth celebrating. And honestly? There's still so much left to build. That's the best part.

Every headline this year wants you scared. Rates, prices, "is the market crashing" — it's exhausting, and most of it is noise written by people who don't actually sell homes.

Here's what's real: people are still buying and selling. Every week. They're getting married, having kids, taking new jobs, downsizing, starting over. Life doesn't wait for a perfect market, and neither do the agents who are growing right now.

The ones thriving aren't lucky. They just stopped reacting to headlines and started paying attention to what's actually happening in front of them.
