Many clients have recently been asking about the differences between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, so here’s a quick overview of what’s happening in the current Medicare landscape:
• Medicare Advantage (MA) remains a strong option for many, especially with low or no monthly premiums.
• Medicare Supplement (MS) plans typically cost around $200+ per month but pair with Medicare A & B to cover many gaps.
• MA plans use provider networks: HMOs require staying in-network, while PPOs allow out-of-network options at higher cost.
• Medicare A & B + MS allow you to see any doctor who accepts Medicare—no networks.
• MA plans often include extras like dental, vision, hearing, and Part D drug coverage.
• Medicare/MS requires a separate Part D plan for prescriptions.
I’ll continue monitoring industry changes and will share updates as they come. Annual Enrollment for 2026 runs from October 15–December 7. If you ever want to review your options, I’m here to help.
