PSA: TODAY is the last day of Medicare’s Annual Election Period. Each year between October 15 - December 7 you can make changes to your Medicare coverage (prescription drug plans or Medicare advantage). If you talk to several agents and make many changes, the last one that’s processed before the deadline on December 7 is the one you will have on January 1.

If you’ve gotten a letter saying your plan will not be offered for 2025, that creates a special election period (SEP) for you and you will have all month to make ONE change. The new plan you choose will take effect January 1, 2025.

If you’re already on a Medicare advantage plan, from January 1 - March 31 you will be allowed to make ONE change. That is Medicare’s open enrollment period (OEP). You will NOT be able to change prescription drug plans during this time or go to a Medicare advantage plan from original Medicare (unless you have a qualifying SEP).

If you need a coverage check-up for 2025, we will be in the office today. Come by and see us!

5 days (including today) left of Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP)! Each year from October 15 - December 7 Medicare beneficiaries are allowed to make a change to their coverage. Actually, you can make unlimited changes if you want and the last change you make before Dec 7 is the one that goes in effect January 1. So if you’ve called a number to get information and found out later you’d been enrolled into something you didn’t want or understand, it’s not too late….we can help! Or if you have an agent you like and just thought you’d call to ask a question on one of the numbers you see on tv and they told you they could “help” and you’d “still have your same agent”, they fibbed to you. You in fact won’t have your same agent so when you need help with a claim or need to order a new card, the agent you’ve had won’t be able to help you. You’ll need to call the company yourself. Also, fun fact, you can’t just change your agent back. If you have questions about your plan or need to make a change, call YOUR LOCAL agent. If you don’t have one, we would love to help! We will be in our office until at least 6:00 each day this week. Whether it’s Medicare supplements, Medicare advantage plans, prescription drug plans…..we can help! Also the carriers who offer Medicare advantage plans in Johnson, Magoffin and Lawrence Counties are Humana, United HealthCare, Anthem and Well Care. In Floyd, Martin and Pike Counties, you also have Aetna as an option. Make sure your agent can offer you all the plans available so you know you’re getting the best one for YOU. (Our agents contract and certify with all the Medicare advantage carriers in our counties each year. Make sure your agent does as well.)

Our office will be closed Thursday and we will have limited hours on Friday to tie up some loose ends. Next week is the last week of AEP so come let us help you go over your Medicare options for 2025.
