The Simi Valley Branch recently put together a micro member experience for our longtime member, Rosa Pernicone.

The Pernicone family recently welcomed a new puppy, Sophie, and we couldn’t let that special moment pass without a little celebration! The team put together a small welcome surprise, and Sophie was more than ready to dive in and enjoy the new toys.

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a reminder that protecting older adults requires
awareness, action, and year-round support.

Elder abuse can take many forms, including financial exploitation. And as scams become more
sophisticated, protecting members and their loved ones means looking beyond
traditional fraud detection. That’s one of the reasons we partner with Carefull.

Together, we’re helping provide an added layer of financial safety for older adults and the people
who care about them, helping spot signs of scams, fraud, and unusual financial activity earlier.
Because protecting financial wellbeing is part of protecting independence, dignity, and trust.

We recently had the pleasure of putting together a special gift basket for one of our longtime members, Ray Lopez.

Ray has been a valued member for 13 years and recently shared that, following his retirement, he plans to downsize and embrace a simpler lifestyle. He has relocated to Arizona with his loyal companion, Conchita, his Chihuahua.

During our conversation, Ray expressed his heartfelt appreciation for our team and shared that he intends to remain a member, noting that we have become like family to him. In honor of this new chapter, we prepared a thoughtful care package that included a personalized mug and slippers to match his beloved Conchita. We also included a few items for Conchita, her own new collar, treats, and a chew toy.

We mailed this package as a small reminder that, even with the distance, he remains an important part of our community and that we are always here for him.
