Spring is one of the best times to garden in California 🌿 With diverse growing zones across the state, there’s something blooming for everyone it all starts with creating the right foundation.

Reminder #1: Prepare your soil by cultivating about one foot deep and adding organic soil amendments like Agromin’s Compost 100 to help plants grow strong and healthy.

A few more spring reminders:
✔️ Plant cool-season veggies like lettuce and spinach earlier in the season
✔️ Wait until the soil warms for heat-loving crops like tomatoes and peppers
✔️ Choose flowers suited to your local climate and temperatures
✔️ Save water with mulch and drip irrigation systems 💧

The future of farming starts with healthy soil 🌱

Sustainable farming isn’t just about growing crops...it’s about protecting and restoring the land for future generations. One of the most effective ways to do that is by using organic soil amendments that naturally enrich the soil and support long-term fertility.

Healthy soil helps:
🌿 Strengthen plant growth
💧 Improve water retention
🌎 Reduce erosion and chemical dependency
🌱 Support healthier ecosystems overall

When farmers invest in the health of their soil, they create stronger, more resilient harvests season after season ✨

There’s something powerful about learning and doing together 🌱

At the Rain Garden Event at Garvey Park, community members came out not just to listen, but to take action. From learning about sustainable landscaping to getting their hands in the soil, the experience was both educational and deeply rewarding.

With support from local organizations and volunteers, this event brought the community together around a shared goal: creating greener, more resilient spaces 🌿

Moments like these remind us real change starts locally, and it starts with us ✨

The Compost Caravan is coming to Orange County on June 4, 2026!

This is an opportunity for residents, landscapers, city/county staff, and zero waste advocates to gather while learning more about OC’s circular organics economy. Caravaners will visit three different locations over the course of one day: James A. Musick Facility for a compost application demonstration to support erosion control and stormwater management, UC ANR Research and Extension Center to learn rapid composting techniques and see how research is shaping water-wise landscaping and food production systems, and OC Waste and Recycling FRB Landfill & Greenery to witness composting at scale. Participate in our discussions surrounding the role everybody who eats plays in the compost economy, and work together to brainstorm solutions for healthy, water wise cities and communities.

If you didn’t get around to prepping your garden yet, this is your sign, it’s not too late 🌱

Lasagna gardening is one of the easiest ways to refresh tired soil using simple layers that work better together. By building right on top of existing beds, you create a foundation that supports healthier plants all season long.

Start with the essentials:

✔️ Plain cardboard to suppress weeds
✔️ Compost 100™ to restore organic matter
✔️ Cover Mulch to protect the surface and retain moisture

Think of it as a spring reset for your garden—low effort, high impact 🌿

Save this for your next garden day ✨

What if you could redirect pests instead of constantly fighting them? 🌿

Companion planting isn’t just about pairing plants, it’s about strategy. One powerful method is using “sacrificial plants.” These are plants that attract pests on purpose, keeping them away from your main crops.

For example:
🌼 Marigolds can draw aphids away from your tomatoes
🍅 Giving your harvest a better chance to thrive

It’s a simple shift that works with nature instead of against it ✨
