I would like to take a minute to introduce myself to you. In 1993, I decided that I had an interest in real estate. I was working in the nursing field and I was always told nurses make good real estate agents, so I signed up to take the cour
se NC or Fundamentals of Real Estate. I graduated the class and sat for the North Carolina Board and received my “Big Envelope” in February of 1994. The “Big Envelope” in the mail meant that I had passed the NC Real Estate Exam. I started my real estate career shortly afterwards as part-time in general brokerage. I was also a volunteer firefighter / medical responder at this time. During class we had studied about property management and I knew this was what I wanted to do during this time in my life being a new family. It provided a steady income versus strictly commission based. Back then, they required you to be a Broker to be a property manager. Back then being a Broker was a big deal. The Broker controlled everything. As a salesperson you didn’t breathe without the approval of the Broker. I then decided I wanted to pursue something different and new. I obtained a position with Zaring Homes in the manufactured housing division. This was something new and exciting to the real estate field. A home builder bringing new and exciting changes to the manufactured housing industry. I obtained my manufactured housing salesperson license from the NC Department of Insurance. While I was good at it and was a producer, I wanted to obtain my NC Real Estate Broker’s License, so I signed up for the class. I obtained my NC Broker’s License in 1999. I obtained a position as Property Manager for an awesome company based in Durham, NC, Ticon Properties. I continued to practice as property manager some great people in the multi-family housing industry such as Summit Property Management gaining eight years’ experience as a property manager. I continued taking firefighting classes at night and obtained Hazard Material Operations, NC Firefighter I / II , NC EMT Basic, NC EMT Intermediate, NC Paramedic. In 2003, I took a part-time position as an EMT until September 2005 when I joined Vance County Fire and EMS. I practiced there until June 2014. I had joined Granville County again in 2013, I went full time in 2014. I practiced there until December 1 2016 when I joined Durham County EMS. I also worked at Rex Hospital, Franklin Regional, and Maria Parham as a second job to make ends meet but real estate was where I want to be. I resigned in 2016 in order to practice real estate full time. I joined American Dream Properties. From June until December, I sold 1.3MM in real estate. In 2017, I started Down South Realty, my own company and sold 3.3MM in real estate. In 2018, I sold 3.8MM in real estate and bought a restaurant, Veneto’s Pizzeria in Creedmoor. I owned the restaurant and managed it full time until October 31 2021. In 2019, I sold 1.7MM, again while managing the restaurant full time. In 2020, I sold right at 1MM. In 2022, I moved my office to Oxford and we are adding agents. Currently, Sandy Cowan Hargrove had joined our practice. And this brings us to current date and time.
